As a member of the Legal team, the Associate General Counsel - Intellectual Property, Standards and Engagement (AGC) is a core member of Underwriters Laboratories' (UL) legal function and is responsible for advising and supporting leaders in establishing processes, procedures, and documentation to advance the mission of the organization and promote constructive relationships with stakeholders and organizations around the world. Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, the AGC will work closely with leaders of UL Standards and Engagement, a 501(c)(4) organization dedicated to the development of safety standards. The AGC will also collaborate with leaders of UL Research Institutes, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to fundamental safety science research and of UL Inc., the for-profit organization focused on safety testing, inspection, certification, and advisory services. Prepare contracts, licensing, service, and cooperation agreements, memoranda of understating (MOUs) and other legal documents to support the mission of the organization and establish effective relationships with stakeholders, organizations, and government entities around the world. Draft, negotiate, interpret, and advise leaders on matters involving contracts, copyrights, patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and other intellectual property. Establish company policies and procedures regarding the use, sale and/or monetization of intellectual property (IP). Develop, refine, and implement policies, processes, and technical and organizational controls to ensure UL's compliance with applicable laws and regulations around the globe. Review inventions and innovations to determine whether they can be patented; manage outside counsel to draft and file the necessary documentation to obtain patents for those inventions. Lead and advise on matters related to pending and potential litigation, investigations, or disputes, and manage outside counsel in these matters as required. Lead strategic initiatives and participate on project teams as needed to provide legal advice. Maintain current knowledge of applicable laws and standards and monitors advancements to ensure organizational adaptation and compliance. Perform other duties as required. What makes you a great fit:

Professional experience and education requirements for the role include:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree and a minimum of 10 years of experience in law firms and/or corporate legal function is required. Law firm experience is required. Bar admission in good standing. Experience with contracts, intellectual property, and litigation is required. Experience working with scientific research, academic or research institutions, and experience working with public policy, nonprofit, and/or mission driven organizations are desired. Salary Range:
$250K -- $500K+
Minimum Qualification
Legal & RegulatoryEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
