Your Role We are seeking a Payroll Manager to support our finance team and manage payroll for our growing staff across multiple states.
If you're looking to join a fast-growing finance team in a collaborative environment, then you could be a great addition to our team! In addition to owning payroll across the organization, this position will have the opportunity to be cross-trained in accounting or finance-related functions.
This position will primarily work remotely, but will be required to commute to Compass' Northbrook office as needed for trainings, meetings, and other tasks.
What You'll Do Manage day to day US multi-state payroll activities to ensure accurate and timely processing in compliance with Company's policies and with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
Responsible for accurate and timely bi-weekly and monthly payroll preparation and submission utilizing ADP Workforce Now.
Work in a fast-paced environment to ensuring efficient, accurate and timely payroll delivery.
Communicate with employees on payroll/time questions.
Research and analyze paycheck and time discrepancies and handles appropriate corrections Analyzes audits, reconciles, and resolves payroll processing and employee payroll/time issues.
Ensures payroll reporting and payments are compliant with company policy, generally accepted accounting principles, and federal, state and IRS regulations.
Calculates and sets up garnishments, levies, and family court orders in payroll system.
Responsible for state tax registrations and payroll tax notices resolution.
Responsible for accurate set up and system maintenance of US tax jurisdictions.
Audit and tracks payroll tax activities, including compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Manage and audit w-2s and yearly administration of payroll in preparation of the following calendar year.
Support external audit activities as necessary.
Collaborate with Accounting co-workers to ensure payroll related transactions are reconciled and recorded appropriately in the general ledger timely.

year's payroll experience performing all functions of payroll.

year's ADP (Workforce Now) system Excellent customer service skills with an ability to effectively handle and resolve employee inquiries and issues.
Agile employee who is able to work in a fast pace evolving environment.
Ability to learn processes and apply knowledge.
Proficient skills using MS Word, Excel, and cloud solution HR systems Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.
Demonstrated high degree of professionalism and integrity.
Ability to problem solving /judgment skills and high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines.
