This position is based in Northbrook, Illinois.

Purpose and Scope:
Partners with senior management to understand functional and corporate strategies and create/align overarching HR strategies for Astellas, while acting in the best interests of Astellas and the needs of an evolving, growing organization.
Serves as a strategic business partner and principal liaison to an assigned senior management team.
Responsible for directing human resources policies and programs that support achievement of the companys business objectives.
Directs human resources activities for assigned organizations within Astellas.
Remains informed of state and federal laws and regulations, and competitive practices, is cognizant of regulations, practices, and customs in assigned ex-US countries, and ensures the companys policies and programs conform to laws and regulations and are designed to attract and retain employees.
Provides strategic counsel on Astellas leadership and workforce capacity and capabilities, to ensure the needs of a changing, growth-oriented organization are met.
Essential Job
Responsibilities:

Partners with senior management to understand functional and corporate strategies and create/align overarching HR strategies.
Partners with CoEs, People Partners and Operations Partners to plan new programs that support the long-range strategic direction of the company, within assigned organizations.
This may include staffing, compensation, benefits, development, and other human resources initiatives.
Participates in recruiting and selection for strategic/senior positions; oversees recruiting for others.
Accountable for talent management and strategic human capital planning for the designated business areas by partnering with the senior leadership on strategic priorities end to end SWP, Org Design etc.

Partners with Senior Leaders to drive organizational success through the provision of HR strategies, data insights etc.

Accountable for growing Astellas capabilities by leading initiatives and owning plans to increase collaboration, engagement, leadership effectiveness and proven ROI.

Accountable for designing future focused strategies that anticipate new opportunities as well as understanding market trends and being able to translate into value additive investments.

Works with senior management to proactively identify HR issues and creative solutions to support the business needs.
Coaches and advises leaders, managers, and employees, as appropriate.

Directs implementation of the Standards for Disciplinary Action Policy for assigned organizations.
This includes managing investigations involving misconduct and working with managers and employees to address unacceptable performance.

Directs execution of Workforce Planning, including Talent Reviews and Succession Planning processes for and on-going communication and implementation of development plans for assigned client groups.

Ensures that human resources policies and programs assist leaders and managers in attaining business objectives for assigned organizations.
Protects interests of employees in accordance with companys policies and applicable labor and pay and benefits laws and regulations.
Works with senior management for assigned organizations in EEO compliance and in the development of plans to achieve AAP goals.

Counsels and advises department managers on company policy regarding Equal Employment Opportunity and diversity.
Ensures compliance and proper reporting of recruiting / employment records.

Must establish and nurture, liaise, collaborate, and partner with ex-U.

HR counterparts in the provision of harmonized HR services to the clients functions.

Assists the Executive Director in the overall leadership and management of the M&D HR Support team and assists in the planning and execution of global projects; may lead a global project on own.

Other duties and projects as assigned.
Quantitative Dimensions:
In addition to the staff responsibility delineated below, this position is responsible for the HR service provision to assigned portions of the employee population Globally.
Organizational Context:
This role reports on a solid line to the Executive Director, HR for M&D.
This position will also often serve as a member of and sit on the senior leadership team of one major M&D functional business unit.

Qualifications:
Required
Bachelors degree in Human Resources or Business, or equivalent experience required.

At least 12 years of HR experience in the pharmaceutical industry in the R&D or Medical Affairs segments.

Minimum ten years managerial experience required.

If in a global client assignment, 5
years experience working with and supporting senior-level European and/or Japan/Asia executives in an in-country HR assignment outside of the Americas region
Demonstrated Human Resources generalist knowledge required, specifically including employment law.
Significant HR specialist experience desirable.

Incumbent must have demonstrated successful ability to work in a challenging, multi-cultural work environment.

Ability to manage confidential information imperative, including influencing others to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.

Demonstrated ability to think strategically and exercise sound business and people judgment.

Demonstrated ability to influence performance and outcomes of senior management and peers, due to line and/or staff experience across multiple client functions.

Some travel required, up to 20% depending on assigned organizations.
Preferred
Masters degree in Business, Human Resources, or Organizational Psychology preferred.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
